Last minute bookings or planned ahead, a weekend getaway to North Devon can be as action-packed or relaxing as you like and sharing the cost with friends or extended family in a well-equipped self-catering cottage is the way to escape from everyday life, on a budget.
Specializing in flexible changeover days means that if you have to get back to work on a Monday, a weekend break could be a 2-night stay from Friday leaving on a Sunday and we can also arrange an early check-in where possible so that you can start your holiday on arrival day.

Short Break Golfing and Surfing Weekends

Holmsleigh is just 2 miles from Saunton golf club. 36 holes of a championship links course, a top ranking world golf course set amongst Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system in the UK, and can be played over 2 days. Or why not stay for 3 days and play the oldest course in the UK as well, located just a short drive away near Westward Ho!

Braunton has a surf culture vibe with lots of surf shops including some surf outlets and board hire and even has its own history of surfing museum. Saunton Sands is a long stretch of sand and is renowned for longboards, and is just 2 miles from this property. For beginners, you can hire boards and wetsuits from the surf school located in a car park where lessons can be booked.

Just another mile along the coast road to one side and the South West Coastal path on the other is Croyde Bay, a very popular surf hotspot where “ Oceanfest “ is held every June celebrating surf, music and beach activities. Croyde is a fast surf and the wave size is tide dependent but very popular with experienced surfers.

Woolacombe beach is just 6 miles from Holmsleigh and has a reef break and can be surfed on any tide. Awarded one of the best beaches in the world, it is popular in the summer with families and bodyboarding, but because of the large expanse there is still room, if not close to the facilities, at the other end is Putsborough beach, a great sheltered spot away from the crowds

Lundy Island is 10 miles away a 2 hour journey to the 3 mile long island of stunning natural beauty, skies full of birds, heavily scented rare flowers, pirate haunts, a medieval castle, 3 lighthouses, black rabbits, undersea marvels for divers to explore the marine reserve, cliff climbers, smugglers cave, puffin breeding ground, a farm with free-range animals, and the all-important Inn for refreshments.
